After Umer Khalid was refused medical bail last week activists gathered outside Wormwood Scrubs prison in solidarity with Umer and all political prisoners and to let him know he is not forgotten.  There was a heavy police presence with the two territorial vans following protesters as they circled the prison before stopping at the prison wall outside Umer’s cell.  Umer could be heard leading his favourite chants from his cell.  The state may try to break his body but they cannot break his spirit and resolution.

Umer has been facing severe medical negligence whilst in custody, the prison has been denying him a wheelchair and when they did finally relent the one ordered was too large to fit through his cell door or be kept on the landing outside.  Umer is no longer able to walk and the prison is still not providing him with adequate medication or care.
