Activists from Kent and London blockaded the entrance to Instro Precision on Sandwich, Kent to say no to a weapons factory in Kent and demand the the remaining six Elbit factories in the UK are closed. Instro is a subsidiary of Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer. They produce optical sensors and tactical equipment used to target, wound and kill in Palestine and elsewhere. The optical sensors produced are used in snipers rifles and drones to directly target Men women and children in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The arms produced in this factory are shipped to Tel Aviv, Israel via Heathrow.
After blockading the entrance to Instro Precision, activists marched to Sandwich town centre to spread their message to local residents. This was a bit of a shock to local residents in this sleepy Kent town, one local commented ‘but this is Sandwich, nothing happens here’. Instro was forced to move from their previous site in Broadstairs in 2019, and activists are now determined to kick them out of Sandwich.
